LEDs (Light emitting diodes) are just tiny light bulbs that fit easily into an electrical circuit. But unlike ordinary incandescent bulbs, they don't have a filament that will burn out, and they don't get especially hot. As LED technology advances so the range of possible applications increases. This is most clearly seen with the move into lighting. With increasing brightness capability, LEDs have moved into applications that were previously the domain of filtered incandescent light.
LED technology can save up to 90% of energy compared to traditional incandescent lighting and have a long life of over 50, 000 hours.
